| Activities The main areas of activity and research regard: - conservation and selection of the bee species, with a particular focus on the Italian race (Apis mellifera ligustica); - health and development of beekeeping and, in particular, studies on methods for prophylactic and parasitological analyses on bees; - enhancement of beehive products, which specifically involves analytic tests on the products of beehives to ensure their quality and control; - application of environmental bio-monitoring programs based on the use of bees; - economic and market surveys on the beekeeping sector The Institute is the official keeper of the following registers of professionals and experts: - National Register of Queen Bee Breeders (M. D. n. 20984 of 10/3/97 and subsequent modifications); - National Register of Experts in the Sensory Evaluation of Honey (M.D. n. 21547 of 28/5/99); - National Register of Melissopalynology Experts (M.D. n. 21547 of 28/5/99). The "Istituto Nazionale di Apicoltura" has a fully equipped laboratory that provides qualified services of analytic testing on beehive products: - chemical and physiochemical analyses - sensorial analyses - microbiological analyses - palynological analyses The laboratory is conducted in conformity with the intenational rule ISO/IEC 17025 and is accredited by the SINAL. |
